LARMANDIER-BERNIER Latitude Methusalem

The NV Cuvée Latitude Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs from Larmandier Bernier is composed of Chardonnay exclusively from the same latitude on the southern edge of Vertus. It is a big, vinous wine with a well-balanced acidity. Bold, ample and large on the palate, Latitude exudes power. Dried apricot, roasted nuts and spices are pushed forward in a rich, creamy wine that reflects the personality of these clay-rich soils. With time in the glass, this classy and elegant wine gains freshness, volume and intensity.

Wines in large bottles from great vintages and good houses are not only impressive due to their sheer size, but they are also excellent for long-term storage. The wine matures more slowly in these bottles and lasts longer because the surface area exposed to oxidation becomes increasingly smaller with the growing volume. Additionally, they make an attractive and exclusive gift idea, not just for collectors. The Methuselah is the equivalent of 8 standard bottles which equates to 6 litres of Champagne. This serves about 48 glasses and weighs a heavy 12kg. Because of its large capacity, this large format needs to be chilled for longer than a classic bottle, and will be less subject to rapid temperature variations.
