La BORDERIE Cuvée De quoi te mêles tu ?
Single Plot Blanc de Noirs
100% Pinot Noir
Blanc de Noirs from 100% Pinot Noir, Brut Nature
One plot : « De Quoi Te Mêles Tu ? » in Neuville sur Seine, planted in 1980. North facing.
The Champagne Blanc de Noirs extra brut from Champagne La Borderie bears the wonderful vineyard name De Quoi Te Mêles-Tu?, which means "Why don't you mind your own business?”
How the current landowner responded to his neighbours in the 1980's who at the time were ridiculing his choice of planting Pinot Noir on a north-facing clay terroir. Truly unique and irresistibly invigorating style for a Blanc de Noirs. A true visionary, not appreciated at the time! Planting Pinot Noir vines on the clay-rich Kimmeridgian soil of the north-facing vineyard makes the wine unusual, bringing remarkable freshness! Additionally, malolactic fermentation was blocked, further enhancing the champagne's liveliness. A small portion of the wines was aged in used wooden barrels. Nonetheless, De Quoi Te Mêles-Tu? is a Blanc de Noirs from the Côte des Bar, making it particularly powerful and complex. The champagne is wonderfully distinctive, fresh, and robust. It can certainly be polarizing. It evokes memories of an elegant perfume or a sunny morning in a forest clearing. It is best enjoyed with medium to full-bodied dishes!
